MEET YOUR VICE MAYOR OSCAR
Proven Leadership. Unfinished Work. Asking for Four More Years.
My name is Oscar Sardiñas, and I'm running for re-election to the Key Biscayne Village Council. I've called this island home since 1984, and every year since has only deepened my gratitude for the life it has given my family. I wake up every day thankful for this community and ready to keep doing the work it deserves.
My name is Oscar Sardiñas, and I'm running for re-election to the Key Biscayne Village Council.
I grew up on this island, and I've called it home since 1984. I owe an incredible debt to the blessed life it has given my family — my parents, my brother and his family, and now my own wife Joanne and our two children all still call Key Biscayne home.
That debt is part of why I got into public service in the first place. Before running for Council, I served on the Educational Advisory Board and the Educational Excellence School Advisory Committee, and I co-founded the Key Biscayne Children & Education Foundation to help build enrichment opportunities for our kids. Since being elected to the Council in 2022, I've served as the Council's liaison to the EAB, and my colleagues have unanimously elected me Vice Mayor in each of the last two years. It has been the honor of my life to serve alongside such an outstanding Council and a leader like Mayor Joe Rasco, and I would be honored to carry that torch forward for another four years.
If re-elected, my focus stays where it's been: protecting, maintaining, and renewing our community's infrastructure — continuing the resiliency work already underway on stormwater, undergrounding, and flood protection — while renewing this island rather than growing it, and defending our home rule against outside pressure to add density we don't want. I want to keep building on the real progress we've made at our community school, and make sure field access stays balanced: fair to the young athletes who play here, and open to residents who simply want to enjoy the outdoors. I'll keep working to refresh our advisory boards so more residents' own skills and experience get put to work for the Village, to provide real oversight that protects your tax dollars, and to expand and protect the parks and open spaces that make this island what it is.
Key Biscayne doesn't take care of itself. It's taken people willing to do the unglamorous, detailed work of governance, year after year, without losing their nerve halfway through. I'm asking for four more years to keep doing that work — and I'd be honored to have your vote.
